Our Story
The Front Yard Nursery started in 1992 with six employees. Now, over fifteen years later, fifteen employees contribute to the Nursery, and our newletter is mailed out to over 5,500 customers.

The Nursery grows approximately 60% of its plants and sells to retail customers and landscape professionals.
Our goals are:

To keep customer service our first priority by encouraging a friendly, helpful, and professional atmosphere.
To continue to have both a quality and quantity (largest stocking) nursery where customers are certain they are buying healthy and thriving plants.
To run the Nursery in the most eco-friendly way by selling organic products that have less impact on the soil and water table.

8:30 - 6:00 Daily
We are closed on the following holidays: New Year's Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve & Christmas Day.

Directions
From Highway 50 East (going towards Tahoe)
Take the Ponderosa Road / N. Shingle Rd. / Mother Lode Dr. exit. At the stoplight go straight; you are now on Mother Lode Drive. Go 4-1/2 miles exactly (go straight at the stop sign at the "Y"). We are located on the left, past the railroad tracks.

From Highway 50 West (going towards Sacramento)
Take the El Dorado Road exit. Turn left onto El Dorado Road off the highway. At the stop sign (Mother Lode Drive), turn right. Go 3/10 of a mile. We are located on the right, before the railroad tracks.

We will unconditionally guarantee your plant(s) of one gallon or larger for a period of six months from the date of purchase. You must return your plant(s), along with your cash register receipt to receive a store credit.
If you bought and used the proper amount of any Kellogg bagged material, your guarantee is extended to one full year on bareroot or one gallon to fifteen gallon non-annual plants from date of purchase (see below).
For bareroot purchases, allow until June 1st to leaf out. Notify us by July 31st if your plant(s) fail to leaf out.

Our bagged soil products (not bulk) extend the guarantee on your plants to one full year (on bareroot or one gallon or larger non-annual sizes only). Amending your soil before you plant increases your chances of sucess with all of your plants. Most soil lacks much needed nutrients that plants need to thrive.

Following are guidelines for the amount of soil amendment to use to receive the plant guarantee:

- 1 gallon plants - 1 cubic foot per 4 plants
- 5 gallon plants - 1 cubic foot per 2 plants
- 15 gallon plants - 1 cubic foot per plant
- Bareroot berries and grapes - 1 cubic foot per 4 plants
- Bareroot trees and shrubs - 1 cubic foot per 2 plants

Jobs

We are starting the hiring process for spring. The following positions will be open:

Cashier: PT/FT, Cash handling experience, sales skills, and plant knowledge a plus. Positive attitude, multi-tasking skills, able to lift 50 lbs., and work weekends and mornings a must. Flexible schedule necessary. Will train. $8.50-$9.00/hour.

Plant Nursery Retail Sales: PT/FT, Plant knowledge and experience absolutely necessary (please do not apply if you lack these). Sales skills and positive attitude a plus. Job includes assisting customers, customer carry-out, multi-tasking skills, able to lift 50 lbs., and work weekends. $8.50 - $10.00/hour.

Yard Person: PT/FT, seasonal. Customer carryout, stocking, tractor & forklift loading, watering. Multi-tasking skills. Positive attitude, able to lift 50 lbs., and work weekends. Will train. Salary $8.00-$8.75, DOE.
